James Menzel-Joseph, painter and sculptor, has a family background that includes Adolph Menzel, Germany’s most prolific artist of the nineteenth century, and Henry Fantin-Latour, the French Symbolist Painter.

Upon graduation from the American Academy of Art, he furthered his studies at the Art Institute of Chicago and The Art Student’s League of New York. While on the faculty of The American Academy of Art he was commissioned to do 30 paintings of Black History in America. When completed, these paintings were exhibited in cities throughout the country.

Represented in group and one-man shows, he has won numerous honors, and awards. His work has appeared in Architectural Digest, Time Life Books, The Chicago Tribune Magazine, and has been featured on ABC Television.

Menzel-Joseph is in the collection of General Electric, Proctor & Gamble, Harper and Rowe, Time, Inc., and Wyeth Labs, among others.
